The Green Energy Lab team from Amritapuri campus coordinated a special session on “Solar Cells” at the International Conference on Electrical, Electronics, and Optimization Techniques (ICEEOT) – 2016 conference held at DMI College of Engineering, Chennai from 3-5 March, 2016.
On February 24, 2016, Dr. Shyam Diwakar of Amrita School of Biotechnology’s Computational Neuroscience and Neurophysiology Labs addressed students and faculty on how brain circuits function and how we study them as a multi-scale problem investigating neurons, circuits and behavior.
As a part of their cultural education class, the first year students of Amrita School of Biotechnology coordinated Sanskar, a charity fundraiser benefitting the children at the Paripalli orphanage located near the school.
The 11th of February 2016 was the first ever International Day of Women and Girls in Science, declared by the UN in order to promote and encourage a larger number of women to take on careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine (STEM fields).
On February 17, 2016, Dr. Mahesh Kappanayil, Senior Cardiologist from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, gave the students of Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT) an insightful view of how biotechnology and medicine overlap. Dr. Mahesh, a Pediatric Cardiologist, spoke to the audience at length about two of his most recent projects at AIMS.
A research team from Amrita School of Biotechnology presented posters at the 56th Annual Conference of Association of Microbiologists of India and International Symposium on “Emerging Discoveries in Microbiology” organized jointly by School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI), Delhi from December 7-10, 2015.
On February 11th-12th 2016, the classrooms and labs of Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT) were deserted– an unusual sighting on most working days. The students, staff, and faculty members were not to be seen in the biotechnology building, but were instead found at the Amritapuri campus sports ground for the annual ASBT Athletic Meet.
Ms. Jayaleskhmi H., Vidhya Prakash and Suja Subhash represented Amrita School of Biotechnology and presented posters at the International Conference on New Horizons in Biotechnology 2015 (NHBT-2015) during November 22-25, 2015 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Prof. T. S. Keshava Prasad gave an extensive talk on “Proteomics and Proteogenomic Approaches to Investigate Human Diseases” at Amrita School of Biotechnology on 3rd February, 2016
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has had partnered with The India-Canada Centre for Innovative Multidisciplinary Partnerships to Accelerate Community Transformation and Sustainability (IC-IMPACTS) to develop and implement community-based solutions to meet the most urgent needs of Canada and India: poor water quality, unsafe and unsustainable infrastructure, and poor health from waterbornewater-borne and infectious diseases. The collaboration is to develop and test local solutions that can be scaled up across India and Canada.
