The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, organized a two day National Workshop on “Trends and Developments in Photonics and Optical Communication (TDPOC) 2016” from March 28th – 29th 2016.
As part of the B. Tech. elective course, coded HUM 259, Understanding Science of Food and Nutrition, a workshop on Food Service Management and Dietetics was organized by the department of Humanities under the guidance of Dr. Janci Rani P. R. and Dr. Tharanidevi N. on 31st March and 1st April 2016.

“Interfacing PV Modules and Staircase Modulation Technique with Implementation of LC Filters”, a seminar by Mr. Roland Henron Patrao, Associate Software Engineer, Embedded Division, BOSCH & alumnus of Amrita school of Engineering (ASE), Bengaluru, was organized by IEEE PES & IAS student branch joint chapter of Amrita school of Engineering (ASE), Bengaluru, on April 1, 2016.
Dr. Sivasena Reddy, Assistant Professor (S.Gr.), Department of Civil Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, was invited by National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj (NIRD &PR), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, to present a research paper on “Regionalization of Watersheds for Prediction of Runoff in Unguaged Basins Using Clustering Analysis, Geospatial Techniques and SWAT Model” at the National Seminar on Geoinformatics Application in Natural Resource Management (NSGANM-2016).
Dr. Sreevalsa Kolathayar, Assistant Professor (SG), Department of Civil Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, was invited by the President, Indian Society of Earthquake Technology (ISET), IIT Roorkee, to be a special invitee to the 184th Executive Committee Meeting of the ISET held on 2ndMarch 2016, at IIT Roorkee.
The Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Branch of Amrita School of Engineering (ASE), Coimbatore, has been adjudged as best CSI Student Branch in India for the fifth consecutive year.
The IEEE Power Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter at Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru campus, organized a seminar on “Power Electronics Applications in Power Systems” by Mr. V. Suresh Babu, Asst. Director, NPTI (PSTI), Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. The seminar was held on March 2nd, 2016, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru Campus.
Dr. Nitin Vaidya, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA, visited the Coimbatore and Amritapuri campuses between January 11th–13th, 2016. During his visit to Amrita, Dr. Vaidya gave two talks, held interactive sessions with faculty members and students, discussed potential areas of collaborations, and visited several research labs.
Drinks and Drugs (D&D) Awareness Program is a series of programs initiated on the Coimbatore campus to create awareness among the students about health compromising behaviors. The program was organized by Dr. C. S. Sowndaram, Professional Counsellor, and Mrs. Rajalakshmi S. A., Department of Students Welfare, on March 3, 2016.
