Amrita MBA students from Amritapuri campus secured the 2nd spot in the national Startup Weekend contest powered by Google, conducted on 5th, 6th and 7th August 2016.
The Rover Phoenix, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Mars Rover team, secured 4th position among the 40 teams in the UK University Rover Challenge (UKURC) held at Manchester, UK from July 23-24, 2016.
An MBA student of Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, Vignesh Viswanathan, Class of 2017, won the second place under ‘Best Presentation-Manufacturing’ category, for his presentation “Process Design for Reducing Customer Returns of Castings” at a workshop organized by Indian Statistical Institute, Coimbatore. Titled “Smart Solutions to Wicked Problems”, the workshop focused on statistical techniques for business process improvements and was held at Codissia Trade Fair Complex, Coimbatore.
Prashanth Mohanasundaram of the department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, was the winner of the coveted TCS Best Student Award for the year 2016 and he secured this prize wining over eleven other nominations. He was awarded a Gold Medal, a certificate and cash prize at the function held on 22nd April, 2016, in the Muralikrishna Auditorium of CIR, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
Bri. Vijisha C., Senior Physician Assistant, Department of CVTS, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, received the International Award from Maquet Group, Germany, as the No.1 Performer of Endoscopic Vein HarvestingTechnique in India.
The Rover Phoenix team from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri, was selected for the United Kingdom’s University Rover Challenge (UKURC) as part of European City of Science 2016. The competition will take place in Cathedral Gardens, Manchester, United Kingdom from July 23-24.
Ms. Vandana Nimbalkar, a third year student from the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, has been selected for the 2016 Tech Top MIT Make in India Bootcamp to be held from 31st July, 2016 to 20th August, 2016.
In the 2016 Formula Hybrid Competition, students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham secured third position in the ‘Hybrid in Progress’ category. The team made their debut appearance, building a race car for the first time.

Sixteen students of Amrita School of Engineering were selected to Google Summer of Code’s and Outreachy project internships. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham nationally stands 3rd in the number of Google Summer of Code selects among other universities. Amrita is the youngest institution to reach the top three positions in the list. IIIT Hyderabad and BITS stood ahead of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
