Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s community training and access programmes directly contribute to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well‑Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by providing local residents—especially rural and tribal groups—with education, digital literacy, healthcare awareness, and livelihood skills that strengthen equitable access to essential services. The university implements these goals through its experiential‐learning network and outreach centres, focused on ensuring that disadvantaged populations can obtain clean water, sanitation, health knowledge, technology skills, and sustainable income opportunities.
STI Hubs for Tribal Empowerment (2024–25)
Under collaboration with Mizoram University and the Department of Science and Technology, Amrita’s STI Hubs train more than 4,400 direct and 170,000 indirect beneficiaries in digital literacy, preventive health, and skill development for local product manufacturing (ayurvedic and nutri‑based foods). These hubs build inclusive infrastructure and train peer ambassadors for public‑health outreach in villages.
UNESCO Chair – Education & Training Initiatives (2024)
Through the Live‑in‑Labs® experiential learning framework, Amrita conducts training and capacity development programmes that bring students and faculty into rural communities to co‑create solutions for access to water, sanitation, healthcare, energy, and digital services. Workshops and colloquia organized under this programme strengthen community resilience and educational inclusion.
ALARM 2024 – Health Outreach and Awareness Programme
The Amrita Legion for Antimicrobial Resistance Management (ALARM 2024) used the social robot Haksh‑E to conduct interactive community training on hygiene and handwashing for over 500 students, 100 parents, and 50 teachers at Clappana School. The initiative demonstrated how technology facilitates social education to prevent infections and improve access to health information.
“Bridging the Gap” – Access to Government Welfare in Rural India (2024)
This October 2024 initiative enabled villagers to identify and enrol in government welfare schemes by conducting training camps on digital document access, Aadhaar‑linked services, and public assistance eligibility. The programme connected hundreds of rural residents to health insurance, housing, and financial‑inclusion schemes.
