Introducing life writing- autobiography, biography, travel writing, memoir, diary, letter as sub – genres-evolution of the art of life writing -difference between biography and autobiographyliterary qualities oflife writing.

Amitav Ghosh:In an Antique Land.

Unit IV:

APJ Abdul Kalam: Wings of Fire.

Unit V:

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl.

Objectives

To familiarize students with different types of life writing such as autobiography, travel writing and memoir; to sensitize the students about the problem of representing the lives of people from different cultures througha critical evaluation of these writings.
