John Shideler, PhD, is managing director of OmnexFuturepast, a Michigan-based firm that provides consulting, training and verification services to organizations focused on mitigating the impacts of climate change and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. John is an experienced greenhouse gas consultant and verifier and US expert to the ISO committees that publish international standards related to climate change and sustainability. John helped develop the new ISO 14019 standard for the verification and validation of sustainability information. He also helped write ISO 14064-3, a widely used standard for the verification and validation of greenhouse gas statements. John is the co-author, with Jean Hetzel, of the book “Introduction to Climate Change Management: Transitioning to a Low-Carbon Economy,” published by Springer Nature in 2022. John earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of California, Berkeley.
