Bio

Dr. Lisa M Frey currently serves as Professor at Department of Cognitive Sciences and Psychology, School of Social & Behavioural Sciences, Amritapuri. She completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in the USA. She completed a Predoctoral internship and Post-doctoral Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. She currently serves as a Professor at Amrita and works as a researcher, clinician, student guide, and instructor. She is the Clinical Director Lead on the Mental Health Project. This research project implements interventions that decrease mental distress and mental disorders. It also cultivates happiness, and noble values, resiliency methods for strong mental health and wellbeing, and sound knowledge and skills that help one successfully face and transcend life’s inevitable adversities. Other research includes interventions (with and without technology supports) for suicide prevention, child sexual abuse prevention, training lay-counsellors in basic counselling methods, and research-supported parenting methods for healthy child development. Dr. Frey has assisted bachelor students in their work with impoverished rural village communities in various states of India.
