Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has entered into a strategic partnership with TAFE Limited through the signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) on 6 October 2025 at the TAFE JFarm Services Facility in Chennai. This milestone marks a significant step in strengthening academia-industry collaboration focused on advancing sustainable agriculture and rural development.
The agreement lays a strong foundation for long-term engagement between the two institutions, enabling joint research initiatives, innovation-driven solutions, and field-level interventions that directly benefit farming communities.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both institutions. From Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, the delegation included Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, along with faculty members from the Amrita School for Sustainable Futures, Dr. Raji P., Dr. Reshma AS, and Dr. Krishna Nandanan. Representing TAFE Limited were Dr. T. R. Kesavan, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Mr. M. Suresh, Dr. Suresh Kumar, and Mr. Sanjay Santhosh.
The NDA is expected to facilitate collaborative work across several key areas, including farmer empowerment and livelihood enhancement, rural resilience and community development, sensor development and smart agriculture technologies, conservation agriculture practices, drone-based research, and precision farming. It will also support engagement with government bodies to strengthen policy frameworks in agriculture.
A key strength of this collaboration lies in its interdisciplinary approach. Multiple schools and research centres within Amrita will contribute to the partnership, including the Centre for Flexible Electronics and Advanced Materials, HUT Labs, the Amrita School for Sustainable Futures, the Centre for Wireless Networks and Applications, and the School of Agricultural Sciences. This integrated effort aims to develop scalable, technology-driven solutions that are both innovative and practical for real-world agricultural challenges.
The partnership is also expected to accelerate advancements in agro-mechanization through collaboration with TAFE’s JFarm Services, while contributing to the holistic development of farmers. By bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and on-ground implementation, the initiative seeks to ensure that technological innovations translate into meaningful impact at the grassroots level.
This NDA marks the beginning of a transformative collaboration, reinforcing Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s commitment to sustainable development and TAFE Limited’s leadership in agricultural innovation.
