Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham proudly hosted its 28th Convocation ceremony at the Coimbatore campus, honouring a new cohort of graduates in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, faculty, and families. The milestone event saw 4,990 undergraduates, 1,482 postgraduates, and 135 Ph.D. scholars receive their degrees across a diverse range of disciplines.
Ceremony Highlights
The convocation commenced with an academic procession, welcome dance, and traditional lamp lighting, accompanied by Amma’s Dhyana Shloka. Chancellor Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) shared her blessings and inspiration in a heartfelt video message, urging graduates to embrace lives filled with compassion and service to society.
Dr. P. Ajith Kumar, Registrar, welcomed the gathering and emphasized education’s timeless role in enlightening and uplifting society. Under Chancellor Amma’s guidance, Amrita has blended world-class academics with the values of compassion, humility, and social responsibility.

Recognizing Achievements and Traditions
Outstanding students were honoured with the prestigious Amriteshwari Medal, University Medals, and Ph.D. awards. Vice-Chancellor Dr. P. Venkat Rangan presented a visionary annual report and admitted the graduands. The commemorative volume, “Graduation Day 2025: Glimpses of Joy, Pride & Inspiration,” was released, celebrating the memories and achievements of the graduating class.
Graduates donned Amrita’s traditional convocation attire—a symbol of India’s rich cultural heritage and a tradition introduced by the university in the early 1990s.
A Joyous Conclusion
The convocation concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean-Engineering. The ceremony was capped with the national anthem and a group photograph, capturing a day of pride, inspiration, and celebration for the Amrita community.
