As part of Wildlife Week 2025, the Department of Environmental Science in collaboration with the Nature Club of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham organized a Book Release Programme and Special Lecture on “Biodiversity and Biological Invasion” on October 8, 2025, at Sandipani Hall.
The event began with a lamp-lighting ceremony by Swami Tapasyamrita and dignitaries including Dr. Shantanu Bhoumik, Dr. Sudip Batabyal, Dr. Balamurugan, and Dr. Maya Mahajan.
A new book titled “Biological Invasion in India: Impacts and Management”, authored and edited by Dr. Maya Mahajan and Dr. Sampriti Kataki, was officially released during the programme.
This was followed by a special lecture by Dr. Biju Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), who shared insights on the threats posed by invasive species and strategies for biodiversity conservation.
In her concluding remarks, Dr. Maya Mahajan thanked the guests, faculty members, students, and research scholars for their participation and emphasized the importance of continued efforts toward environmental protection and awareness.
