Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Haridwar Campus, organized the Doon Valley Leadership Summit & Awards successfully at Hotel Ramada by Wyndham, Dehradun, where school administrators and educationists from all over Uttarakhand gathered for a thought-provoking discussion on the future of school education.
The leadership summit is a collective effort by principals and education leaders to discuss current issues in schooling, the latest educational paradigms, and the need for transformation through leadership. This initiative exemplifies Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s ongoing commitment to creating a value-based, inclusive, and ready-for-the-future education system.
Approximately 55 diverse principals from different regions of Uttarakhand convened at the Summit; they embodied all varieties of schools and educational frameworks, and their eager involvement highlights the strong demand for innovative practices in educational leadership and for embracing a comprehensive approach in school education.
Representatives from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Haridwar Campus), Swami Visrutamrita Chaitanya Ji, and Dr. Rajathilagam, Principal, were also present to support the activities of this event, further linking both institutions and providing opportunities for discussion between school leadership across the state.
The summit conducted extensive discussions about issues affecting schooling today. Some of the topics of discussion at the summit included – 21st Century Learning: Imagining the role of a school in Uttarakhand, Diversity and Inclusion: Changing policies regarding inclusion to be part of our everyday lives in a classroom, and Social Emotional Learning: Addressing a critical piece of a student’s whole development experience.
All three topics discussed resonated very well with many participants to illustrate how important it is to combine student academics with student well-being. A highlight of the summit was an enlightening address from Dr Shoury Kuttappa about purpose-based education, creating inclusive school communities, and social-emotional learning in regular schooling.
Participants rated Dr. Kuttappa’s topics extremely highly, concerning their immediacy and usable ideas for school administrators to implement. The summit concluded with positive feedback from Principals attending the conference, with many showing interest in obtaining a tour of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Haridwar Campus, collaborative initiatives, and academic engagements, along with student-based programming.
The Doon Valley Leadership Summit and Awards created opportunities for long-term partnerships with several schools throughout Uttarakhand, such as hosting campus tours, facilitating student participation in co-curricular activities, and creating cooperative academic partnerships amongst the Universities participating in this event.
The event also reinforced both Amrita’s commitment to strengthening the school education system in the Region and its role as a leader in the Global Education Leadership community.
