Robotics Club & The Robotic Society (TRS) Student Chapter Inaugurated at School of Engineering Coimbatore

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, hosted the inauguration of the Robotics Club and the launch of The Robotics Society (TRS) – India Student Chapter. This landmark event aimed to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence among students, providing a vibrant platform for exploring the frontiers of robotics and automation.

Dr. Rameshkumar K, Chairperson of the Department, delivered an inspiring welcome address, emphasizing the significance of the Robotics Club and TRS Student Chapter as catalysts for nurturing future-ready engineers. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and students, and highlighted the vision of empowering students to solve real-world challenges through creativity and technology.

Dr. Rammohan, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering introduced Chief guest Dr. Kiran Akella, Project Director, STAR, R&D Engineers, DRDO and outlined his remarkable achievements. Dr. Akella’s presence added immense value to the event, and his keynote address on “Humanoid Robotics – Challenges and Opportunities” provided deep insights into the latest advancements and future prospects in humanoid robotics. His speech also highlighted the various make-in India initiatives by his group. The chief guest formally inaugurated “The Robotics Society” (TRS) collegiate chapter. Dr. Amudhan AN, Faculty in-charge of Robotics Club highlighted the activities and road map of TRS collegiate club.

The inauguration of the Robotics Club and TRS Student Chapter marks a significant milestone for the Department of Mechanical Engineering. With the collective efforts of faculty, students, and distinguished guests, the department is poised to become a hub for robotics innovation and excellence.
