The Microgrid Research Center is dedicated to advancing the state of the art in microgrid technology, energy management, and grid resilience. Their primary focus lies in empowering sustainable, resilient, and efficient energy systems through innovative techniques and cutting-edge technology. They aim to leverage the transition to a more sustainable and decentralized energy future by deploying rooftop wind-solar energy conversion systems. This approach not only enhances the efficiency of energy generation but also contributes to a greener, cleaner environment. The center’s work aligns with a broader vision of creating a more sustainable world, where microgrids play a pivotal role in providing reliable power, reducing environmental impact, and increasing the overall resilience of energy systems. Their research and development efforts are driving the evolution of energy systems towards a brighter and more sustainable future.

Vision

The Microgrid and Drives Research Lab is dedicated to renewable energy orchestration and architecting the secure, intelligent, and autonomous energy grids of tomorrow. Uniquely positioned to bridge the critical gap between theoretical algorithms and real-world deployment, the lab specializes in transforming complex simulations into real time implementations and validation through hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation. Its core research verticals focus on advancing grid autonomy, architecting decentralized energy markets through blockchain-enabled Peer-to-Peer (P2P) trading, and fortifying cyber-physical infrastructure with advanced threat modeling and intrusion detection systems. By integrating AI-driven weather and demand forecasting with Vehicle to grid/ grid to vehicle power management, virtual impedance control etc. the facility empowers researchers to develop sustainable power management system. Ultimately, the lab provides a high-fidelity environment for translational research, ensuring that students and researchers are equipped with the skills required to engineer resilient and efficient future power systems.

Mission
