“The market of Internet of Things (IoT) is going to be the next big thing in the tech industry, and will have 20 billion devices connected by the year 2020.” This was the introduction to the 4 day workshop and Developer Weekend on IoT and Smart Home Automation, conducted by Electronics, Communication and Instrumentation Forum (ECIF) of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru campus, in partnership with StudyOwl, started with people trying to digest the full potential of IoT in ways they had never imagined.
Developer Weekend was a community driven two day event initiative by FACE (Forum for Aspiring Computer Engineers) of the department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru campus, well supported by Amrita TBI – Technology Business Incubator and StudyOwl.in.
After months of preparation, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, conducted the 20th edition of its national-level b-fest, Pragati, December 3rd– 4th, 2016. Pragati witnessed participation from more than 150 students from top business schools such as: IIT-Bombay, Thiagarajar School of Management and Christ University, KCT Business School, Rajagiri School of Business.
A meeting was arranged by IEEE-PES and IAS joint student branch chapter, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, on December 20, 2016. The aim of this meeting was to show appreciation for PES and IAS joint student branch committees and volunteers.
IEEE PES, Bangalore Chapter, organized a “Young Researchers Meet” on December 17, 2016, at Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru. B. Tech. and M. Tech. students from different colleges, and professional researchers from various companies participated in the meet, along with faculty of department of EEE, Amrita School of Engineering.
Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, conducted its annual student fest PRAGATI from December 3-4, 2016.
Amrita Club for Robotics and Mechatronics (ACROM), Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru organized an inter collegiate robotic competition, Sentience’16.
Short films were presented at the campus by the final year Visual Communication students of Amrita School of Arts & Sciences, Mysuru.
In order to create awareness of the importance of mushrooms, the students of S3 B.Sc. Microbiology hosted a program named “Mycoscope” November 10th-11th, 2016. The Mycoscope 2016 programme presented an expo on the properties and uses of fungi, as well as recent discoveries about the fungi kingdom.
Abhinand Nandakumar and Srijan Agarwal, B. Tech. sophomore Computer Science and Engineering students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Amritapuri Campus, were invited and given travel scholarships to give a talks at FUDCon (Fedora Users and Developers Conference) APAC, Phnom Penh, Cambodia from November 4-6, 2016.
