Abstract : The dynamics of discrete alpha-helical proteins with nearest and next-nearest-neighbour interactions and interspine coupling is investigated in this paper. The resulting set of three coupled discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations is analysed using Hirota's bilinearization procedure and one-, two- and three-soliton solutions are obtained. Furthermore, the multisoliton interaction properties are discussed.
