Abstract : A compact CPW fed decagon ring fractal antenna has been proposed for multiband applications. The proposed antenna uses the self-similar property of fractal geometry to design three decagon ring structure, where each ring is added in the iteration process which is responsible for the multiband resonance. Decagon ring enhances the bandwidth compared to other ring structures and has an overall dimension of 26.5 × 23.5 ×1.6 mm3 . The antenna characteristics such as return loss, input impedance, radiation patterns, surface currents, and gain confirm the proposed antenna which exhibits center resonance frequency at 2.4 GHz (275 MHz), 3.775 GHz (500 MHz), and 5.275 GHz (2400 MHz) is suitable for 2.41–2.49 GHz (Bluetooth), 2.5/3.5/5.5 GHz (WiMAX), 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz (WLAN), 4.9 GHz (public safety applications), 5.9 GHz (WAVE), 5.97–6.38 GHz (fixed satellite communication) applications.
