Abstract : Public transportation plays a crucial role in the lives of many, offering convenience and mobility. However, for visually impaired individuals, navigating public transportation presents unique challenges. One significant challenge is the difficulty in identifying bus numbers and accessing accurate route Information in real-time. This design project aims to develop an object detection model that empowers visually impaired individuals to confidently navigate public transportation systems. By integrating advanced image recognition and text-to-speech technologies, the developed model provides real-time bus number identification and route information through auditory cues. The model detects the bus route label from the bus image and converts the text in the route label into speech signals which can be done by ocr and tts engines.
