Amrita School of Pharmacy organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 8th to 12th July 2025 in association with Higher Education Skill Development and Research Center (HESDARC) Mysuru. The programme empowered the pharmacy faculty with updated knowledge and hands-on experience in assessment design, MCQ construction and analysis, question bank development, and blueprinting techniques.
The inaugural ceremony began with a welcome address and introductory remarks by Dr. Sabitha M., Principal, Amrita School of Pharmacy, followed by the lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr. Rakesh S., Vice Principal, Amrita School of Dentistry & Additional Controller of Examinations, ECD Unit I, delivered the keynote address. Dr. B. G. Nagavi, Founder and CEO of Higher Education Skill Development and Research Center (HESDARC) Mysuru and Dr. P. Jayasekhar, Former Dean, College of Pharmacy, National University of Sciences and Technology, Muscat, Oman outlined the workshop’s objectives, after which the FDP booklet was released.
The sessions covered Formative (FA) and Summative Assessments (SA); MCQ design, analysis, and vetting; creation and strategic alignment of Question Banks with Course Outcomes (COs). The resource persons included Dr. B. G. Nagavi; Dr. P. Jayasekhar; Dr. Anu Sasidharan, Additional Professor in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology and Head of the Medical Education, Amrita School of Medicine; Dr. Sathvik B Sridhar, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, RAKCOPS, RAKMHS University, RAK, UAE; Dr. Leena K. Pappachen Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Amrita School of Pharmacy; and Dr. Vidya Viswanad, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, Amrita School of Pharmacy.
Participants were evaluated through a series of activities including formative and summative assessments, open-book assignments, quizzes and video presentations, problem-based learning (PBL) tasks and faculty-led presentations.
The valedictory function was graced by Dr. Shantikumar V. Nair, Associate Provost (Academics), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Dr. B. G. Nagavi and Dr. P. Jayasekhar shared their insights on the program as resource persons, while Dr. Athira K. V. and Dr. Ajmal Nassar, Assistant Professors in the Department of Pharmacology, Amrita School of Pharmacy, provided their feedback as participants. The FDP concluded with closing remarks from organizers and faculty leaders.
