The Amrita Centre for Allied Health Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Medicine, School of Medicine, organized a comprehensive First Aid Workshop to observe World First Aid Day 2025. The program was inaugurated by Prof. M.V. Thampi, Chief Program Administrator, who highlighted the importance of equipping future healthcare professionals with essential life-saving skills.
Around 200 first-year Allied Health Sciences students actively participated in this half-day workshop, gaining practical, hands-on experience in first aid techniques and emergency response.
Workshop Highlights:
Emergency Scenario Demonstrations: Included choking (Heimlich maneuver), snake and dog bite management, seizure care, heat stroke response, and fainting intervention.
Sessions were led by experienced emergency medicine doctors and senior emergency care professionals, who guided students through live demonstrations and supervised hands-on practice.
Students completed a short assessment, including a quiz and practical spot checks, to evaluate their understanding of first aid principles. All participants who successfully completed the training were awarded a Certificate of Participation, recognising their readiness to respond confidently to common emergencies. The workshop exemplifies Amrita’s commitment to holistic healthcare education, ensuring students are not only knowledgeable but also prepared to act effectively in critical situations.
