Abstract : This project aims to optimize message latency in Vehicle Controller Area Network (CAN) systems applications. Message traffic is traced and accessible in a database file, storing CAN ID to signal mapping, and acts as the source of information. Two primary algorithms form the core of the message latency optimizing system: a latency calculation algorithm that analyzes message timestamps to measure transmission delays and a scheduling algorithm that optimizes Message prioritization. This acts to counter network congestion. The setup uses several ECUs with MCP2515 CAN controllers that speak with each other using SPI and shares a common CAN bus for hardware performance verification. The system improves real-time performance with dynamic priority assignments through Python scripts. This optimization system minimizes collision rates and improves network efficiency in time-critical automotive uses.
