Abstract : Village tourism is one of the most important sections of tourism industry that plays the main motive force in the economic growth along with the development of the village by providing leading opportunities on the basis of the potential of the village. It also helps in increasing the welfare level, standard of living, income level, safety, stability and in maintaining the population of thevillage. The positive consequences of this sustainable green industry includes traditionalpatterns, cultural features of the village, ecologicalbalances, maintenance of natural resources and prevention of exorbitant migrations. In accordance, it is the most appropriate way of rescuing village against social, economic and environmental issues and gaining social and geographic equity in the development of village tourism. This study aims to investigate the natural and cultural tourist appeals of Kuttanad village and to know the effects of the village tourism development of this region by using field study and survey method, analyses the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats according to the SWOT method and lastly suggest the tactics for the sustainable development of the region.
