Abstract : Communication started with 1G in the 1980s. This was followed by 2G in the 1990s, 3G in the 21st century, 4G in 2009, 5G much later, and now 6G. 6G provides services for future needs beyond 2030. 6G aims for high data rates, ultra-low latency, and ultra-reliability services. 6G would be about Internet of Everything such as smart cities, network management, autonomous driving, UAVs, seamless virtual and augmented reality, and more. This chapter compares 5G with 6G in terms of intelligence, energy efficiency, security, privacy, and spectral efficiency. 6G communication is about sixth-sense communication and three-dimensional technology particularly time, frequency, and space. It will be an Artificial Intelligence-driven communication. 6G will use edge computing and AI will make computations much easier at edge/devices. AI's role in 6G is as enabler, defender, offender, target, and resilient. Important AI techniques for 6G include supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement, federated, and deep learning. The chapter concludes with various application examples of AI in 6G.
