Abstract : Schizophrenia, a complex psychiatric disorder characterized by positive, negative, and cognitive symptoms, significantly impacts individuals' lives. Historically, treatment primarily focused on symptom management through antipsychotic medications. While second-generation antipsychotics and long-acting injectables have improved outcomes, the emphasis has shifted towards holistic recovery. Psychosocial interventions, early intervention programs, and recovery-oriented care have demonstrated significant efficacy in addressing the multifaceted challenges of schizophrenia. This review explores the pharmacological advancements in schizophrenia management, the role of psychosocial interventions, the importance of early intervention and coordinated specialty care, and the emerging focus on recovery-oriented approaches. By integrating these strategies, clinicians can provide comprehensive care that addresses both symptom control and long-term functional recovery for individuals with schizophrenia.
