Abstract : This manuscript presents insights from a four-day disaster risk reduction (DRR) training program that engaged a diverse group of participants, including college students, schoolteachers, and nationally recognized NGO representatives. The program combined interactive lectures, hands-on sessions, field and lab visits, and digital tools to deliver context-specific and experiential learning. Pre- and post-training evaluations indicated a measurable improvement in participants’ knowledge and understanding from 4 to 50%, particularly among those with limited prior exposure to DRR. Participants expressed a strong commitment in applying their learning within their communities and institutions. Feedback highlighted the effectiveness of practical demonstrations and the need to expand the content to accommodate rescue and rehabilitation for both humans and animals. Additionally, participants suggested a hybrid learning format to enhance accessibility. The training emphasized the importance of integrating DRR into formal school and college education and policy frameworks, reinforcing the value of inclusive and community-based approaches in strengthening disaster resilience.
