The one-day workshop on “Insights on Water Resources Management from Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)”, to be held on 27 April 2026 at Ācārya Hall, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, seeks to explore the profound wisdom embedded in India’s traditional knowledge systems concerning water conservation and sustainable management. Drawing from classical texts, indigenous practices, and culturally rooted ecological insights, the workshop aims to highlight how ancient Indian approaches to water can meaningfully inform and complement contemporary scientific understanding.
Bringing together eminent scholars, academicians, and practitioners, the workshop will feature keynote and technical sessions addressing themes such as hydro-science in Indian traditions, the concept of Jalam Jīvanāmṛtam, and integrative approaches that combine traditional knowledge with modern analytical and simulation tools. The event is open to students, faculty members, researchers, and professionals, and aspires to foster dialogue, inspire research, and encourage the application of IKS-based perspectives in addressing present-day water challenges.
