The School of Computing at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai Campus, established in 2019, has rapidly evolved into a vibrant centre of excellence in computing education, research, and innovation. Since its inception alongside the Chennai Campus, the School has demonstrated consistent progress toward academic distinction, research excellence, and industry relevance.

The B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Core) programme builds a strong foundation in computing principles, Computer hardware essentials, preparing students for careers in software development, systems engineering, and emerging computing domains.

The B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence Engineering) programme focuses on intelligent systems, enabling students to design AI-driven solutions across applications such as automation, healthcare, and smart systems. The B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) programme emphasizes secure computing, preparing students to address challenges in information security, ethical hacking, and cyber defence. The B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science programme equips students with expertise in data-driven decision-making, machine learning, and analytics, addressing the growing demand for data-centric roles across industries. The M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering programme provides advanced knowledge in specialized areas of computing, enabling graduates to pursue research, high-end industry roles, and academic careers. 

The curriculum builds a strong foundation in core computing areas such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Databases, and Software Engineering, while seamlessly integrating advanced domains including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Distributed Systems, and Internet of Things. Students are trained to design, develop, and deploy scalable, intelligent, and secure systems through a blend of theoretical rigor and hands-on, project-based learning. 

A key strength of the School is its highly qualified faculty, with more than 85% holding PhDs from reputed institutions. With a team of over 35+ faculty members and an average experience exceeding 15 years, the School ensures a strong balance between academic depth, research orientation, and industry exposure. Faculty members actively contribute to high-impact research, scholarly publications, funded projects, and interdisciplinary collaborations in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing and Cloud Computing. 

The School is supported by advanced laboratories and a strong ecosystem of research hubs and Centres of Excellence, enabling cutting-edge research and innovation. Key facilities include the Amrita Innovation Lab (AiLab)Nexus LabStrategic Hub for Intelligent Cyber Defence (SHIELD) LabArtificial Intelligence and Data Science Innovation Center (AIDISC)Advanced Security & Testing Research Arena (ASTRA), and Next Generation Computing and Experimental Systems (NEGCES).
