Abstract : Climate change refers to long-term alterations in Earth’s climate patterns, primarily driven by rising global temperatures,altered rainfall patterns, glacier retreat,reduced vegetation cover and more frequent extreme weather events. These changes amplify natural disasters, including landslides, which are influenced by slope changes, soil moisture, land use changes, and vegetation cover(NDVI).Landslides are the most persistent threat across the world which could cause damage to life, infrastructure and environment. It is required to quantify the inter-dependencies of factors for developing early warning systems and mitigation policies.This study establishes an empirical framework to evaluate and visualize the statistical dependencies between climatic, environmental, and land use factors controlling slope failures in the Western Ghats. The insights derived support development of robust, region-specific disaster management protocols and proactive land use planning for climate-resilient South Indian hill districts.
