Abstract : The potential application of supercapacitors as an energy storage device in this electrified world is highly remarkable. However, many factors like production cost, complex manufacturing processes, and safety concerns hinder their commercialization, which necessitates a strong, reliable technological advancement. Rubber, in its natural and synthetic forms, when incorporated with supercapacitor designs, presents a viable solution to these problems. This chapter explains the latest developments in rubber-based technology for supercapacitor applications in detail. It is primarily divided into two sections, in which the function of natural rubber and synthetic rubber nanocomposites on different components of supercapacitors, such as electrodes, electrolytes, and separators, is discussed. Furthermore, the basic working principle of supercapacitors and the need for rubber in supercapacitors are explained with respect to their highlighted properties. Altogether, this chapter underscores how rubber and nanocomposites encrusted supercapacitors can be a transformative solution for modern energy storage needs by bridging the gap between performance, durability, and cost.
