Abstract : Over the last few decades, interferometry has been an effective tool for different areas such as science and industry. It is being quite instrumental in pushing the borders of technical progress, from astronomy to optics, and from material science to mechanical engineering. In recent times, optical interferometry has been adopted and widely used for the measurements of various physical parameters. As a key branch of measurement technology, optical fiber, and laser-based optical interferometry, have been put forwarded and used in sensing various known and unknown parameters. The chapter describes and critiques four major types of optical interferometry circuits such as Mach-Zehnder, Michelson, Fabry-Perot, and Sagnac loop, in terms of their working principles, fabrication methods, and respective application fields. The main purpose of this chapter is to provide a brief introduction to key interferometry circuits and to enlighten the recent proposed works.
