Abstract : Education revolves around improving the quality of life that helps one to behave rationally, responsibly, and intelligently in society. Education helps individuals realise and apply their potential for personal growth and societal development. The rising environmental crisis calls for educational approaches that promote responsible and sustainable behaviours. Achieving a sustainable future will require changes in behaviour, so a behavioural perspective for addressing environmental issues is crucial. This study investigates the role of environmental ethics and green culture as predictors of pro-environment behaviour among undergraduate students. A normative survey was conducted among 200 undergraduate students across different academic streams in Kollam District, Kerala. The findings showed that 93% of students demonstrated average levels of environmental ethics, 86.5% exhibited average green culture, and 46.5% showed average pro-environmental behaviour, with stream-wise variations in behaviour. A strong positive correlation was found between environmental ethics and pro-environmental behaviour (r = 0.49) and between green culture and pro-environmental behaviour (r = 0.47). The study emphasises the need to integrate structured, value-based, culturally grounded sustainability education into higher education curricula to cultivate stronger environmental responsibility.
