Introduction

This course introduces the fundamentals of Java programming through hands-on and practical coding with object-oriented concepts. Topics cover variables, data types, operators, control structures, arrays, and object-oriented principles such as classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, and abstraction. Lab exercises focus on implementing object-oriented design, handling exceptions, GUI development using Swing, working with files, and Applet-based applications.

Objectives and Outcomes

Course Outcomes (COs)

On completing this course, students will be able to:

CO1 Understand the structure of Java, control structures, and object-oriented programming concepts such as classes, objects, constructors, and static members.
CO2 Apply inheritance, method overriding, and interfaces to implement object-oriented design.
CO3 Handle runtime errors with exception handling and perform concurrent programming using threads.
CO4 Implement enumerations, file I/O, lambda expressions, and string manipulation methods in Java programs.
CO5 Build a Swing-based GUI application for managing records, creating structured and reusable programs.
