Abstract : In this study, a LoRa-based Worker Safety Monitoring System is proposed to enhance protection in dangerous industrial and mining environments through continuous monitoring of toxic gas levels and detection of accident falls. To detect dangerous gas concentrations and unusual worker movements in real time, the system combines a MQ-2 gas sensor, an MPU6050 motion sensor, and a low-power STM32 microcontroller. Even in subterranean areas where traditional networks are unreliable, a dual-alert mechanism ensures dependable communication by simultaneously sending long-range wireless alerts to supervisors via a LoRa RA-02 module and providing instant on-site warnings via an alert. Because of its low cost, portability, and energy efficiency, the system can be used in tunnel construction, sewage operations, mining, oil and gas facilities, and other settings where worker safety and quick emergency response are essential.
