The HuT Lab (Humanitarian Technology Lab) at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus focuses on developing innovative robotics solutions using ROS2.
It provides a platform for students to work on real-time applications, research, and interdisciplinary projects, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical implementation. The lab emphasizes hands-on experience, innovation, and publication-oriented research to prepare students for industry and advanced technological challenges.

The HuT Lab Collaborative Project at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, in collaboration with the Nagercoil Campus, focuses on Robotics development using ROS2.
A total of 17 teams are working under the Robotics domain at Amritapuri. As part of this collaboration, 9 interdisciplinary teams (ECE, CSE, AI & DS) from Nagercoil Campus are engaged in joint projects, including 5 teams in Robotics and 4 teams in CARLA-based ADAS simulation.
The project emphasizes hands-on learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and research-oriented outcomes, enabling students to develop real-world solutions and contribute towards technical publications.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil Campus hosted an engaging session on HuT Lab Initiatives, led by Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, Director of HuT Labs and Head of SMART & ACORD Centers at Amritapuri Campus. Students gained valuable insights into innovative research, hands-on projects, and future opportunities in technology and computing. The session was highly interactive, encouraging students to ask questions, explore ideas, and understand the impact of HuT Labs on real-world engineering solutions.

The HuT Lab & SMART Lab Collaborative Project – Second Review Meeting 2026 was successfully conducted at Acharya Hall with active participation from students and faculty mentors. Students presented their project ideas and research progress before Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, Director – HuT Labs and Head – SMART & ACORD Centers, who provided valuable insights and expert guidance. The review focused on advancements in Machine Learning, ROS2, and CARLA-based ADAS simulation, enabling teams to refine their research direction and improve outcomes. The session highlighted a strong emphasis on research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The HuT Lab & SMART Lab Collaborative Team has secured 3rd Place at the Virtual Vahana competition held at Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. This achievement highlights the team’s excellence in innovation, technical expertise, and collaborative problem-solving in the domain of intelligent and autonomous systems. The recognition reflects the strong emphasis on research-driven learning and practical implementation fostered through the HuT Lab and SMART Lab initiatives.
