The ACM Student Chapter at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil Campus is a hub fortech enthusiasts and innovators. Through workshops, hackathons, and expert talks, we bridge academics with real-world skills. ACM Student Chapter at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil Campus is a vibrant community of students, educators, and innovators passionate about advancing computing as a science and a profession.

Established under the global Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), our chapter provides a platform for students to explore new technologies, collaborate on innovative projects, and engage in professional development opportunities.

Our Mission

To inspire, nurture, and empower students in the field of computing by fostering innovation, knowledge-sharing, and leadership. We aim to bridge the gap between academics and industry through workshops, seminars, hackathons, and technical talks. 

The ACM Student Chapter aims to promote knowledge and innovation in computing by providing students with opportunities to learn, explore, and excel in various technical fields. The chapter encourages networking and collaboration among students, faculty, and industry professionals to support career growth and mentorship. Additionally, it inspires members to contribute to community projects and uphold global standards in computing ethics and practices.

Activities

The School of Computing, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil Campus, inaugurated ACM Student Chapter, Bi0s, and amFOSS clubs on 18 July 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Amriteshwari Hall. Dr. Vipin Pavithran, Professor at the Amrita Center for Cyber security and founder of amFOSS.in, Bi0s, and Shakti groups inspired the audience with a provocative inaugural talk. His insightful talk emphasized the significance of open-source technology, competitive programming, and student skill development, particularly through platforms like ICPC. The introduction of club coordinators and office bearers was conducted during a session presided over by Dr. T. Kannan, Principal. Mrs. S. Anjana, AP, AID, was introduced as the coordinator of Bi0s club and Mrs. T. Vickneswari, AP, AID, was introduced as the coordinator of amFOSS club. The event was coordinated by Mrs. S. L. Jothi Lakshmi, AP/AID.

The ACM Student Chapter of Amrita School of Computing, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil, successfully organized a Website Design Contest on 12 February 2026 at Room E108, AVV Block. The event encouraged creativity, innovation, and practical web development skills among students, with enthusiastic participation from aspiring designers and developers. Congratulations to the winners – First Place: Vundela Sravan Sri Siva Kumar Reddy (II B.Tech CSE), Second Place: Pasula Meenun Reddy (II B.Tech CSE), and Third Place: Pinnamareddy Ramya Sri (II B.Tech CSE) and O. Brijesh Narayanan (II B.Tech AID). The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of the Principal and Chairperson and organized by Mrs. Jothi Lakshmi S. L., AP/AID, with the dedicated support of student coordinators Ms. Karthika S (II B.Tech AID), Ms. Karthiga R (II B.Tech CSE), and Mr. Shaik Mohammed Abu Bakar Siddiq (II B.Tech CSE).

SIG’s are small club/ organization within the college formed by the students with the guidance of faculty. These sig’s mainly focuses on  interest in a particular domain. 

The domains are:  

  • AI/ML 
  • Web Development 
  • Cybersecurity 
  • Entrepreneur 
  • Multimedia 
  • Research 

We can form the sig’s from the above the domains.

Appoint Leadership: 

For each SIG will be appointed  

  • A SIG Lead – One senior who is passionate about the topic 
  • A CO-Lead – To help students. 
  • Faculty –  To assist the students 

Structure Of SIG’ s: 

  • Schedule: Weekly/bi-weekly 
  • Format:
    • 5 minutes recap of previous session. 
    • 10 minutes presentation / knowledge sharing. 
    • 30 minutes practical knowledge. 
    • 5 minutes summary. 
  • Quiz: Tracking the students knowledge by conducting quiz every 3rd week etc.
  • Competitions: Every month competitions will be conducted.

Goals: 

  • SIG’s lead must track the members progress.
  • SIG’s must report plan of every week.
  • Each semester one mini project.
  • Awards for Top 3 participants in the SIG’s.
