Syllabus
Practical
The practical component of this course is designed using a Farm-to-Consumer (Farm-to-Fork) approach to provide experiential and skill-oriented learning in agribusiness. Students will gain hands-on experience in farm enterprise identification, farm resource inventory, production technologies, cost and profitability analysis, enterprise budgeting, and business opportunity assessment. The course emphasizes agribusiness entrepreneurship through Business Model Canvas preparation, feasibility analysis, startup planning, funding opportunities, and exposure visits to Agri-Business Incubation Centres. Practical sessions focus on agricultural supply chain mapping, logistics, warehousing, cold chain management, value chain analysis, value addition, branding, packaging, digital marketing, market segmentation, consumer surveys, and marketing efficiency. Students will also participate in exposure visits to wholesale markets, APMC/e-NAM markets, warehouses, food processing industries, and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to understand real-world business operations and industry best practices. The course culminates in the development of an agribusiness or FPO business plan and its presentation before a panel of industry experts, incubator professionals, and FPO representatives, enabling students to develop entrepreneurial, managerial, analytical, and problem-solving skills for successful careers in agriculture and allied sectors.
