Historical Development of Social Work (10 Hrs.)

Origin and growth of social work as a profession globally and in India. Major social reform movements and their influence on social work. Indian Philosophies and Social Work Development of social work education in India. Contribution of Sadguru Mata Amritanandamayi Devi for social work

Unit 3

Principles, Values and Professional Ethics (10 Hrs.)

Principles of Social Work Practice. Ethics, Values, Code of Conduct of Professional Social Work, Declaration of Ethics for Professional Social Workers in India. Functions of Professional Associations. International Social Work

Unit 4

Fields of Social Work (10 Hrs.)

Family and child welfare, Gender and Social Work, Medical and Psychiatric social work. Human Resource Management, Correctional, school, and industrial social work. Rural and urban community development. Trauma Informed Care. Disaster Management, Human Rights and Social Justice. Role of social workers in government and non-governmental organizations. Use of AI and data tools for identifying vulnerable populations and planning interventions

Unit 5

Fieldwork and Supervision (5 Hrs.)

Importance of Field Work Practicum. Concurrent, Summer, Rural camp and Summer Placement. Field Work Reporting, Using ICT in Field Work Reporting.

The course familiarizes students with various forms of Social Work practice, including direct engagement with individuals, families, and groups, community and organizational involvement, and administration of welfare programs. 2. To understand the basic values and principles of Social Work.
3. To provide an overview of fieldwork and fields of social work.
