Introduction

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to modern full-stack web development using JavaScript and the MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js) stack. It begins with core JavaScript concepts including objects, asynchronous programming, DOM manipulation, event handling, and browser APIs. The course then progresses to frontend development using React, covering component-based architecture, state management, routing, forms, and UI design. On the server side, students learn to build RESTful web applications using Node.js and Express, implement middleware and APIs, and manage data interactions. The course also introduces MongoDB for database design, CRUD operations, aggregation, indexing, and deployment strategies. Advanced topics such as modularization, server-side rendering, session handling, pagination, and integration of frontend and backend systems prepare students to design, develop, and deploy scalable, real-world MERN stack applications.

Objectives and Outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

CO1: Demonstrate proficiency in JavaScript fundamentals, including objects, iteration mechanisms, DOM manipulation, event handling, asynchronous programming (event loop, micro tasks, macro tasks), and browser-based interactions.

CO2: Design and develop dynamic user interfaces using React, including component-based architecture, state management, event handling, forms, routing, styling, and component communication patterns.

CO3: Develop server-side applications using Node.js and Express, implementing RESTful APIs, middleware, routing, error handling, template engines, and testing strategies.

CO4: Design and manage MongoDB databases, including schema design, CRUD operations, indexing, aggregation, replication, sharding, and deployment strategies.

CO5: Build and deploy full-stack MERN applications integrating frontend, backend, and database layers, incorporating advanced features such as authentication/session handling, server-side rendering, modularization, pagination, and performance optimization.
