Emergence of AI, IoT, and Machine Learning in Rural and Tribal Planning
Unit 2
Field of Technological Intervention– Water– Water conservation technologies, rain water harvesting, watershed development tools and techniques,Water Quality, Purification, and Smart Water Distribution Systems. AI and IoT in Water Monitoring, Flood Prediction, and Groundwater Recharge Mapping. Ongoing Projects and Global Best Practices in Water Management. Government Schemes: Jal Jeevan Mission (FHTC), Atal Bhujal Yojana, PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, and Swajal Scheme.
Unit 3
Field of Technological Intervention-Agriculture– Technologies for Sustainable agriculture, Organic/nature farming, Soil health, conservation and smart irrigation systems. Technologies on post- harvest processing and value addition. AI-based Crop Prediction Models, Drone-assisted Farming, and Mobile-based Agro-Advisory Tools. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Digital Agriculture Mission (2021–26), National e-Governance Plan in Agriculture (NeGP-A), and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).
Unit 4
Field of Technological Intervention- Energy & Transportation – Transportation; Technologies addressing Energy Crisis – Renewable and Non-Conventional Sources: Solar, Wind, Bio-methanation, and Hydro Power. Transportation Systems – Low Carbon Mobility, Electric Vehicles, and Green Logistics. Government Schemes: PM-KUSUM, National Green Hydrogen Mission (2023), FAME-II for Electric Mobility, and Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). AI-based Energy Management and Smart Grid Systems for Rural Electrification.

Field of Technological Intervention– Health & sanitation- Low-cost and Eco-friendly Toilet Technologies; Wastewater Recycling and Management. Menstrual Hygiene – Sustainable Sanitary Products and Disposal Technologies. Digital Health Ecosystem for Maternal and Child Care under PM JANMAN (2024) for PVTGs. This course enhances understanding of the application of technology in diverse community development sectors and emphasizes AI-driven innovations, digital governance, and sustainable technology practices. It provides students with skill-based approaches to analyze local and global technological interventions that promote inclusive growth, particularly among rural and tribal communities.

Course Objectives:
- To understand the overview and evolution of technology for community development.
- To examine the application of technology in water management, Health and Sanitation
- To explore modern technologies in sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods.
- To analyze technologies in the fields of energy, transport, and digital connectivity.
- To apply emerging tools like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and GIS for solving rural and tribal developmental challenges.
