Hackathons have become more popular in the last few years, attracting young talent to showcase their new ideas and thus paving way for young entrepreneurship. They provide a good platform for young talents and stimulate the creative juices of participants and foster problem-solving and risk-taking in a casual environment.
AiSmart Hackathon is a full-fledged end to end hackathon that is on par with any of the Industry conducted hackathons. The event is open for all the students of ASE Coimbatore. Each team can have a maximum of 3 participants and an optional faculty mentor. The event will contain three phases as mentioned below:
Stage-1: Idea Submission Phase (August 16, 2019 – August 25, 2019)
The students will be asked to share their idea and details through an online forum. This phase will be given certain deadline before which the students are expected to submit the ideas. This phase will close sharply by the deadline mentioned and the ideas submitted will be shortlisted by the organizing team.
Stage-2: Prototype Development (August 26, 2019 – September 6, 2019)
Shortlisted teams will be intimated via mail and the teams will be given 2 weeks of time to develop the initial prototype of their idea.
Stage-3: Onsite Hack (September 7, 2019)
Teams will arrive at the hackathon location and will be participating in a 12 Hours hackathon. After 12 Hours, each team will pitch their idea with a presentation along with the prototype demonstration for 10 mins.
Finally, the top 3 teams will be awarded prizes.

Summary of the Event
As part of the idea submission phase, we have received a total of 45 submissions, out of which the panel has selected 26 ideas for prototype development. The ideas are selected based on the novelty, relevance to the theme of the hackathon and implementation feasibility. All the 26 teams were invited to participate in the final 12 hours hack that is held on September 7th, 2019. On the day of final hack, 22 teams have participated and 4 teams couldn’t make it to the venue due to various reasons. All the 22 teams were very enthusiastic and have demonstrated excellent skills in prototyping their ideas and presenting them to the panel.
At around 11:30 AM panel has conducted an interim status presentation, where they asked the teams to orally explain their current prototype status. A panel with 3 judges is formed apart from organizing committee and department chairperson and at 3:30 PM all the teams were requested to give their final presentation with a working demo.
Judging panel includes Dr. Binoy B. Nair, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication (ECE), Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore; Dr. S. Thangavelu, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore; and Mr. Baskar A., Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore. Judges have selected 6 teams for a final pitch out of which top three teams are given prizes. Winners details are given below:
