Makara Sankranthi Celebration – Amrita Bengaluru Campus

The School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru, celebrated ‘Makara Sankranthi’ on January 15, 2020, in a traditional way. Students of B.Tech., M.Tech. and MBA disciplines, in unison, decorated the whole campus with beautiful rangolis, sugarcane, kites etc. The celebrations commenced at 5:00 AM with the customary Bhogi, the first day of Pongal which signifies the disposal of old things and welcoming new beginnings. A bonfire was lit up to burn the old beliefs. At 7:00 AM, SPICMACAY (Society for the Promotion of Culture among Youth), conducted Rangoli competition. Fun games like tug-of-war, seven stones, lemon & spoon, etc., were conducted throughout the day. The students zealously participated in these events and there was a lively and electrifying atmosphere in the campus.The special lunch for the faculty and students was served by the team consisting of ‘Prerana’ club and ‘Prakriti’ club executives. The cultural program began in the evening at 5:30 PM with performances by several bands that entranced the audience with their melodious songs. The dance troupes enthralled the spectators with amazing moves on various songs.The active participation of students and faculty in this splendid gala resonated throughout the day
