Faculty Bio

Dr. Joshi C. Haran joined Amrita in 1994 with years of academic experience. He received his M. Sc.Engg from Calicut University in 1974 and his Ph. D. in 2006 from University of Huddersfield, UK. Before joining Amrita, Dr. Haran served as Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Engineering College, Vadakankulam. He was Associate Professor at Gogte Institute of Technology, Belgaum for ten years and Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering and Technology in Bijapur. Prior to that he was a Research Assistant in the Cryogenic Engineering Centre of Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur

Dr. Haran is interested in advancements in teaching as well as in research. He has published five conference papers, one book entitled, Kinetic Theory Approach for the Determination of Rate of Evaporation (Scholar’s Press, Germany) and a video, Education – A Vision in You Tube.. He served as a Resource Person at for the National Resource Centre for Value Education in Engineering and attended a workshop on “Development of Curriculum and Identification of Teaching Resource Materials on New Course Inputs for Integrating Science, Technology and Human Values.” He has also published two papers on the essence of Bhagavad Gita.in International Conferences.

He is a Fellow at the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Indian Institute of Production Engineers, and is a member of a number of professional organizations including the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, the International Society of Automotive Engineers, the Indian Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Indian Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering and the Indian Society for Technical Education. His research area is Thermal Engineering.
