Dr. Krishnendu P. R. currently serves as Research Scientist in the Department of Pharmacognosy at Amrita School of Pharmacy. She completed her B.Pharm. and M.Pharm. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Al Shifa College of Pharmacy, Kerala, under the prestigious GPAT Scholarship. She obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in 2026. Her research focuses on the development of microbiome-responsive therapeutics for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) by integrating medicinal chemistry, computational drug discovery, network pharmacology, and targeted drug delivery systems. Her key research interests include medicinal chemistry, microbiome-based therapeutics, colon-targeted drug delivery, natural product-based drug discovery, and translational pharmaceutical sciences. During her doctoral research, she developed a novel azo-reductase-driven mutual prodrug for IBD, which has resulted in an Indian patent application and publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals. She has presented her work at several national scientific conferences and actively contributes to interdisciplinary research.
