Manisha Katyal is an Assistant Professor (Research) at the Amrita International School of Law, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. She completed her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, with a specialization in Constitutional Law, followed by an LL.M. in Criminal Law and an M.A. in Mediation and Conflict Resolution. She is also UGC-NET qualified.
At Amrita, she is the Coordinator of the Department of Research and also coordinates the Amrita Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Amrita Centre for Environmental Laws, overseeing research initiatives, academic collaborations, events, and publications. She also serves as Executive Secretary (Academic) to Dean. Previously, at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, she was associated with the Centre for Research in Criminal Justice, Centre for Law and Management, Centre for Mediation and Research, and Justice M. L. Pendse Chair in Environmental Laws.
She has contributed to major national research initiatives, including a pan-India study on prison administration involving 900 researchers and a research project on suggestive amendments to criminal laws. Her research interests span constitutional law, criminal law, mediation, environmental law, regulatory studies, and policy research, and she has presented several research papers at national and international forums. She has also served as the Regional Representative for South Asia at the Regulatory Institute, Belgium, contributing to regulatory research, legislative monitoring, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement across the South Asian region.
