Dr. R. Nirmala is an Assistant Professor at Amrita International School of Law, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women. Her specialization is in Environmental Economics, with research interests spanning Water Pollution, Wastewater Treatment, Agricultural Economics, Sustainable Development, Development Economics, Environmental Policy, Applied Econometrics, and Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability.
Prior to joining Amrita, Dr. Nirmala worked as a Research Assistant and Field Worker at Avinashilingam Institute, where she gained extensive experience in research design, field surveys, data analysis, and empirical investigations. She has published research articles in reputed peer-reviewed, UGC CARE, and Scopus-indexed journals, in addition to contributing several book chapters. She also served as the Book Editor for the proceedings of the Two-Day National Conference on Challenges of the Indian Economy and Sustainable Development.
Her current research integrates advanced analytical techniques, including Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), Monte Carlo simulations, and Artificial Intelligence, to develop evidence-based solutions for environmental and agricultural challenges. She is committed to advancing interdisciplinary research, research-led teaching, and policy-oriented scholarship in the areas of sustainability and environmental governance.
