Promoting Holistic Living Through Dinacharya Awareness at Local Anganwadis

As part of its Ayurveda-based interventions, the STI Hub team has been conductingDinacharya awareness sessions at local anganwadis, bringing the wisdom of daily routines and healthy living directly to the community. The sessions were conducted last week at Vaivakawn Anganwadi Center and RamhlunVenglai Anganwadi Center, with 8 more similar sessions planned in the coming weeks.

Dinacharya—literally meaning “daily regimen” in Ayurveda—emphasizes small, consistent lifestyle practices that nurture both body and mind, preventing illness before it begins.

The primary audience for these sessions were the mothers of young children, many of whom are the first to shape their families’ daily habits. Through simple explanations, live demonstrations, and relatable examples, the team introduced key concepts such as:

  • Maintaining personal hygiene and oral care,
  • Regular sleep and waking schedules for better energy,
  • Nutritious food choices suitable for growing children, and
  • Seasonal lifestyle adjustments to boost immunity.

Recognizing that anganwadis are bustling spaces full of toddlers, the STI Hub team ensured that the sessions were not just educational, but also engaging and playful. Short storiesand colorful visuals kept the little ones entertained while subtly introducing them to ideas of cleanliness, early rising, and healthy eating—turning the session into a shared learning experience for both mothers and children.

This initiative reflects the STI Hub’s broader goal of integrating traditional knowledge systems into modern community health programs. By starting with mothers and young children, the project aims to plant early seeds of awareness that grow into lifelong healthy habits, benefiting not just individual families, but the entire community.
