Abstract : Agents are cognitive beings that can think for themselves, operate in various contexts, and make good decisions based on their knowledge and experience. A multi-agent system (MAS) uses intelligent, interconnected agents to solve a problem that no single agent can handle. SG integrates smart technologies, control methods, and sensing methods into utility power networks. Using MAS to regulate power system operations can save time on analysis, relaying, protection, transmission switching, communication protocols, and plant control. This study examines smart grids, MAS-based control methods, and smart grid control. Twenty-five publications on MAS-based smart grid control have been analysed, categorised, and grouped for reference. This paper should help MAS researchers and practitioners.
