Abstract : A study was undertaken to analyze the lactation traits from three genetic groups of goats viz., Attappadi Black, Malabari and crossbred goats maintained at University Goat and Sheep Farm, Mannuthy. Data were collected from 104 does during the year 2016 and 2017. The effect of different non genetic factors such as breeds, season, type of kidding and parity were analyzed. From the results (Tables I to V), it is seen that genetic groups had significant effect on total milk yield, average daily milk yield, peak yield and day to attain peak. Malabari does have significantly higher total milk yield, average daily yield and peak yield followed by cross-bred and Attappadi Black. Season had significant effect on all parameters except peak day of lactation.Does kidded during pre-monsoon, produced significantly higher milk followed by southwest monsoon. Type of kidding had significant influence on lactation length and peak yield. The parity of doe had significant effect on total milk yield, and does in the 5th and 6 lactation produced higher yield. This study will help to suggest a suitable feeding and management strategies for improving milk production under farm conditions of Kerala
