Abstract : In this chapter, optical fiber sensors (OFSs) are introduced in various infrastructure applications, such as infrastructure for highways, buildings, bridges, Geotechnical structures, pipelines, and cables. We discuss the sensor design, implementation technique, and basic sensor performance only in the application examples. It is concluded in this chapter that the OFS is capable of providing an economical and technically sound monitoring solution for large-scale infrastructures usually funded by civil engineering organizations.
