Abstract : The implementation of a car parking system on FPGA using Verilog aims to develop an advanced and comprehensive solution to manage a parking more intelligently and efficiently. The system employs an FPGA platform for monitoring and controlling parking slots in real time .Sensors identify the presence of the vehicles and the system counts the number of free/occupied slots. All this data is processed in Verilog, a hardware description language, which allows fast decisions to be made. FPGA model is good because of its parallel structure ,which makes it ideal for narrow or congested areas.Auxiliary functions such as automatic entry and exit barriers, parking fee payment, and space availability displays unit can be incorporated to advance automation and improve the convenience of the parking management operations. In addition to functional verification, this work also evaluates FPGA resource utilization and performance metrics, including LUT usage, flip-flop count, and maximum operating frequency. Benchmarking against microcontroller-based systems highlights that the FPGA-based design provides superior scalability and real-time feasibility, making it a robust solution for smart city parking applications.
