Abstract : This paper examines the conceptualization and implementation of an instant messaging application, which is decentralized. The proposed work utilizes a blockchain with end-to-end encryption and digital signatures. The need for nodes dedicated to mining has been done away with, by introducing a new consensus mechanism called Proof of Message. The implementation demonstrates improved security over traditional centralized messaging systems while maintaining usability for small to medium-sized groups (50–100 users). When compared to conventional instant messaging applications which are centralized, the increase in latency has been found to be minimal, according to performance analysis.
